As much as I have come to enjoy going out with my camera and just snapping off a few shots while out on a stroll, there are some shots I strive to look for and capture. Street photography is a great style to try your hand at if you are one who prefers to get away from the posed portraiture look and focus more on capturing people going about their day. I happen to be one of those photographers that rather enjoys capturing the candid individual, before they have a chance to put on their camera persona.
This being said, working an event can take you away from those moments as the shots your client wants are typically planned out in advanced and there tends to be a lot of posing and cheesy smiles. However, for those who don't become overwhelmed by the task at hand through the event, you can, from time to time, slip into your street state of mind. As the party or your clients shift about to get to the next location or figure out how to arrange themselves for the next pose, you should keep a watchful eye and your shutter finger ready to click away while they least expect it. Thus, capturing the moments between the moments like the image above this post.
Long story short, even a structured shoot doesn't have to be so structured when you keep your other shooting styles in mind. When you can accomplish this without succumbing to tunnel vision, you can capture some of the most beautiful candid moments and continue to fuel your creative drive.
